Job Description:GENERAL PURPOSE:The Drafter & Design Technology Lead will create technical drawings and designs for use in manufacturing, and fabrication of our wheelchair accessible vehicle conversions and lifts. He will also help drive our technology improvements around Design, Engineering, Quality and Manufacturing, from ideation to implementation assuring the future utilization of these technologies that optimize our product design and manufacturing processes, helping to decreased costs, increased profits, and enhanced customer satisfaction.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Responsible for creating all technical drawings and executing Design Technology improvements.Use Inventor CAD to convert the designs of engineers into technical drawings.Author and transfer component design feedback to the Engineering Team. Use formal feedback documentation and ensure clear and thorough direction.Review component design for adherence to Best Practices (drafting guidelines, lessons learned, etc.) and quality of prints.Identify new innovative Design Technologies that will improve our vehicle products that enhance customer experience while reducing cost.Ensure drawing & EBOM print quality and help improve the processUnderstand Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) functionality to apply theory wherever it makes sense.Coordinate, create and maintain the CAD system, evaluating software needs, improvements, and possible automationEnhance CAD part catalogs to drive product re-use (Teamcenter Classifications)Help improve the Design Engineering CAD standard based on ASME Y14 standards, creating templates to implement the standard, maintain and revise standard as needed to adapt to new workflows.Develop and maintain automation to link PLM & ERP systems and processes.Verify drawings are correct to specifications.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:•Experience managing CAD systems and updates, working with suppliers for implementation and improvements.•Understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing methods and conventions.•Ability to operate computer-aided design (CAD) software and manual drafting workstations•Ability to multitask and manage several projects at a time•Exceptional attention to detail and a high level of accuracy•Interpersonal skills to work within a team, taking direction from Manager and Engineers•Time management skills to complete error-free work within the required timeframe•Communication skills with an emphasis on reading and writing for creating documentation and reports•Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities to develop creative solutions Must be detail-oriented and a self-starter.•Possess the ability to function well under the demands of project due dates•Desire to work in a fast-paced environment•Windows (computer), Outlook (email), Inventor, AutoCad, Vault, MS Office, and Epicor (ERP)•Knowledge of PLM & PDM systems, and experience in the implementation of this systems is desired.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Minimum of 2 years work experience in Drafting / Drawing creationBasic understanding of engineering design, procurement, manufacturing, and assembly.Dimensional Management and Understanding of GD&T preferred.Experience with Mechanism and part CAD design and manufacturing desired.
