Job purposeCAD Technician processes work orders through nesting for the laser and brake press. This position ensures the correct material is being used and accurately draws work in a variety of programming. This position includes working with 2D and 3D plans and frequently involves in the modification of digital designs to ensure accuracy and quality.
Duties and responsibilities - Processing customer drawing requirements as quickly and accurately as possible
- Completing CAD functions such as drawing modifying and nesting in a timely manner
- Liaising with customers when required to ensure drawings are correct and suitable to manufacture.
- Ensuring the nesting is optimum with the least amount of waste.
- Work with cross-functional teams to reduce costs and improve services.
- Support training and development of fellow employees in pursuit of expanding knowledge
- Support business needs in current position and other departments as needed.
Qualifications - Previous experience using 2D and 3D CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, DraftSight, SolidWorks, Inventor)
- Previous experience with 2D nesting software preferably Trumpf TruTops Boost, however training can be provided for the right candidate.
- Ability to convert 2D and 3D models to different formats.
- Knowledge and/or experience in the sheet metal industry, specializing in laser cutting and brake press. Fabrication knowledge is desirable, but not essential.
- Possess strong numerical skills.
- Ability to communicate with multiple departments to ensure delivery and project dates are kept.

Working conditions - Moderate noise (i.e., business office with computers, phone, and printers, light traffic).
- Ability to work in a confined area.
- Ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period.
Physical requirements - While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work.
- Light to moderate lifting is required.
- Regular, predictable attendance is required; including quarter-driven hours as business demands dictate.
Additional Information- Pay: $21.00 per hour
- Onsite Position - Springfield, Ohio
- Monday through Friday 6:00am - 2:30pm
