Primary Job Function: The Café Manager is responsible for managing the daily food and beverage needs of the Thornburg office. This role will be responsible for creating healthy weekly menus, working closely with local vendors to source catered meals, and ensuring a wide variety of grab-and-go options for our employees. In addition, the Café Manager will assist with arranging meals for meetings and small events, oversee food inventory, ordering, and stocking, while maintaining high standards for cleanliness, quality, and food safety. This position has an on-site schedule as it requires regular access to the Thornburg campus to support operations that cannot be performed remotely. Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and curate healthy, diverse weekly menus that cater to employee preferences and dietary needs.
  • Collaborate with local vendors to source fresh ingredients and catered meals for Thornburg's Marketplace, departmental meetings, and special events.
  • Manage the preparation, set-up, and service of Thornburg Marketplace's daily meals including the stocking of grab-and-go items, snacks, and beverages.
  • Manage inventory of food and supplies for the kitchen, Thornburg Marketplace, and all Thornburg campus breakrooms; including communicating & coordinating with third party vendors and external suppliers.
  • Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and regulatory standards.
  • Work in conjunction with Facilities and Office Services to manage all Thornburg campus breakrooms; including the supply of complimentary coffee service in each.
  • Provide excellent customer service to employees, addressing any dietary or food-related questions and concerns.

Requirements
  • High school diploma- required ; degree in hospitality or culinary arts - preferred .
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices for handling and storing food; Certification in ServSafe - preferred.
  • Prior experience as a café/catering manager, or other relevant position in the hospitality or food service experience industry.
  • Strong knowledge of nutrition and the ability to create balance, healthy meal plans.
  • Experience working with vendors and managing food supply chains.
  • Organized, punctual, and proactive individual with a strong attention to detail, a sense of urgency, and a creative mind.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work both independently and within a team, with excellent written and oral communication skills, the capacity to multitask in a busy environment, and effective problem-solving skills.
  • Customer service-oriented person with a team player mentality and a creative approach.
  • Ability to sit/stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, and lift up to 25 lbs. with or without assistance.
  • Flexibility to work beyond normal office hours when called upon for coverage and special events.
