Riddle Village, a lifecare retirement community, is seeking Cafe Attendants to join our dining department team on a part-time basis. This position will work during the day (with the exception of the Sunday late afternoon shift) and includes every other weekend. Under the supervision of the Executive Chef, the caf attendant is responsible for working the food line, preparing smoothies, and/or bussing according to requests, preparation methods, portion control, time schedules, and sanitary standards and serving procedures set forth by the dining department. - Maintain high standards of sanitation and housekeeping by completing special cleaning tasks as outlined on the sanitation list, daily cleaning sheet, or as outlined by the executive chef.
- Maintain the implemented employee meal programs policies & procedures.
- Report all food needs to the chef, checking to see that they are available and working closely with the supervisor on special problems or needs.
- Ensure that his/her assigned area in the caf functions efficiently and is clean and sanitary during his/ her time on duty.
- If working the smoothie station, prepares smoothies in a consistent fashion by utilizing principles of portion control and following recipes. If working the food line, providing food to customers consistently by utilizing portion control and assuring food presentation is exemplary. If working as a busser, ensure that the dining and customer serving areas are clean and that tables are cleared and cleaned in a timely manner.
- Rotate food daily to prevent spoilage and label (with dates) leftovers following our labeling and dating policy.
- Follow high standards of safety practices set forth by the Department of Health and Riddle Village.
- Attend all in-service training sessions with co-workers to keep abreast of current knowledge in the field.
- Work in other areas of the department or caf as needed
Job Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must be able to follow oral and written instructions in the English Language
- Must be able to speak, understand, read and write in the English Language
- Must have an interest in working for the elderly
- Must like to smile, and smile often
- Must display excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, both individually and as part of a team, and maintain a professional demeanor throughout the entire shift
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds for short distances with or without reasonable accommodations
- Must be able to work every other weekend with shifts that start as early as 8:30 AM and end as late as 3:30 PM Monday through Saturday and run from 2 PM-7:30 PM on Sunday
- Must be able to stand the majority of the time, walk short distances, stoop and reach for food. Must be able to lift food and equipment and withstand changes in temperature going in and out of coolers and freezers with or without reasonable accommodations
