JOB TITLE: Cafe Cook + Cashier (Dual Role) DEPARTMENT: North and Clark Cafe FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt JOB SUMMARY: This is a dual position for Cafe Cook and Cashier interchangeably. Candidates must be comfortable and knowledgeable in both positions. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Cafe Cook) Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat etc.) Cook food in various utensils or grilled. Check food while cooking Ensure great presentation Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen Ensure all food and other items are stored properly Check quality of ingredients Monitor stock and place orders when there are shortages. Preparing food in accordance with recipes. This can include washing, measuring, weighing and mixing ingredients. Also make sure customer orders are managed and served in a timely manner. keep the kitchen organized and running efficiently. Ensure proper food handling, sanitation and following food storage procedures. QUALIFICATIONS (Cafe Cook):
- Proven experience as cook
- Experience in using cutting tools, cookware and bakeware
- Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, etc.)
- Ability to follow all sanitation procedures
- Ability to work in a team Very good communication skills.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Cashier): Receiving payments, keeping track of all cash and credit transactions. QUALIFICATIONS (Cashier):
- Prior experience in customer service position
- Process sales transactions
- Maintain clean and tidy checkout area
- Assist in stocking and rotating merchandise
- Greet customers when entering or leaving.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, stressful environment
- Basic PC knowledge
- Counter service experience
- Bilingual preferred but not required
