You will be leading a team of detail-oriented folk with the support and guidance of a small team of world-class operators in the coffee and service industry.Requirements

  • 2+ years experience in a similar store/shift leadership role
  • 3+ years experience in specialty coffee
  • Passion for people and leading service
  • Guest-centric with a strong passion for hospitality
  • General computer skills
  • DoH food handler s license
  • Available to work 5 days a week- Mondays required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong ability to multitask and stay focused on the task at hand
  • Ability to engage in company events, meetings, and extracurricular activities as required, outside of business hours.

In this position, you will be required to lead a team of baristas and delegate tasks on a daily basis. On top of the day-to-day responsibilities of shift work in the cafe, you will be responsible for the ordering and waste management of all goods - this includes both perishable and non-perishable items. Due to the customer-facing nature of this role, you will be expected to show full support for our systems, vision, and culture and lead by example during service.

Administrative Tasks
  • Ordering/ Invoicing, Inventory/ Stock take: Monitoring COGs by maintaining sufficient stock levels and controlling wastage. Group and organize invoices and submit them to the accountant for processing. This applies to beverage programs, and food programs, including perishable and non-perishable goods.
  • Ensure cafe space, storage room and all areas of the premises are maintained and organised
  • Cash Handling: Manage all cash in the cafe. Calculate and consolidate each day's cash sales and tips for weekly reports.
  • Payroll: Ensure that employees comply with the posted schedule (Shifts & break times) Confirm and approve staff time cards, and ensure the information is accurately reported to Management.
  • Provide timely feedback and reports of new hire progression and training progress to the Operations and People teams.
  • Attend weekly meetings with Management to review sales, quality, culture, operations, customer feedback, and overall store performance.
  • Maintain a calendar of major holidays and critical dates to inform customers and navigate with vendors & service providers.
  • Flag any maintenance issues and potential service flaws with the Management.
Floor Shifts (Standards Up-Keep)
  • Lead and maintain day-to-day operations of the cafe, while ensuring company standards are being met in all regards: quality, coffee, hospitality, customer service, cleanliness, uniform, music, etc.
  • Lead service, ensuring fellow team members are in the correct positions to facilitate excellence in key areas- Speed, Quality, and Hospitality.
  • Lead by example during service, executing steps and standards of service at all times.
  • DOH Standards: Ensure that the cafe is operating up to NYC DOH Standards to maintain an A Grade. Implement a daily DOH Checklist for key areas of the cafe.
  • Customer Service and Retention: Customers should be greeted as they enter, welcoming our guests with open arms style hospitality. Ensure that staff remembers guests' names, orders, and preferences of regular customers, providing a warm and incredible customer experience.
  • Communication: Maintain clear oral and verbal communication with management and staff. Delegate and provide staff with clear directions, both verbal and written.
  • Train and coach new hires and ensure standards are clearly communicated.
  • Ensure daily checklists/task sheets are followed and kept up-to-date.
  • Drive speed of service, keeping within reason of Black Fox s target turn-around of 3 minutes or less.
Development
  • Develop and improve on Cafe Standard Operating procedures (SOPs), in conjunction with Management.
  • Suggest ways to improve standards of service/retail offerings/menu offerings/activities to keep staff engaged
  • Identify when ongoing training of the team or individuals is required and feedback to Management
