- Training and Development:
- Participate in a structured training program to learn all aspects of cafeteria management, including food preparation, service, sanitation, and safety procedures.
- Gain knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations related to child nutrition programs.
- Operational Management:
- Assist in daily cafeteria operations, ensuring efficient food service and adherence to nutritional guidelines.
- Learn to manage inventory, including ordering, receiving, and storing food and supplies.
- Fill in and work in the absence of a Cafeteria Manager.
- Staff Supervision:
- Support in supervising and training cafeteria staff, fostering a team-oriented environment.
- Assist in scheduling, task delegation, and performance evaluation of cafeteria personnel.
- Food Preparation:
- Assist in preparing and serving meals, maintaining high standards of food quality and presentation.
- Customer Service:
- Provide excellent customer service to students, staff, and visitors.
- Address and resolve any concerns or complaints in a professional manner.
- Compliance and Reporting:
- Learn to maintain accurate records for meal programs, including production records, inventory, and compliance documentation.
- Financial Management:
- Gain an understanding of budgeting and financial management within the cafeteria.
- Assist in managing expenses and revenues to achieve financial objectives.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Two years of previous experience in food service, preferably in a Management or Child Nutrition Team Lead role in an institutional setting.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and Child Nutrition Operations Management Software such as PrimeroEdge.
- Valid ServSafe certification or County Foodservice Managers certification required.
- Proven track record of excellent work attendance is required
- Ability to pass the Child Nutrition Operations Manager Trainee Pre-screening Exam with a score of 75% or higher.
- Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License and have the ability to travel throughout the district as directed.
