This position involves food preparation, serving meals, and maintaining the cleanliness of the kitchen and dining areas. Key Responsibilities: • Food Preparation: • Prepare and cook meals according to the planned menu and nutritional guidelines. • Ensure all food is prepared in a safe and sanitary manner. • Follow standardized recipes and portion controls. • Meal Service: • Serve food to students, staff, and visitors in a courteous and efficient manner. • Ensure proper portion sizes are adhered to. • Handle cashier duties if required, including operating a point-of-sale system. • Sanitation and Cleanliness: • Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, and food preparation areas. • Maintain cleanliness in the dining area, including wiping tables, emptying trash, and sweeping floors. • Follow all safety and health regulations to ensure a safe dining environment. • Inventory and Supplies: • Assist with inventory control and notify the Cafeteria Manager of low stock or supplies. • Properly store and label food items to maintain freshness and prevent contamination. • Team Collaboration: • Work collaboratively with other cafeteria staff to ensure smooth operations. • Participate in training sessions and meetings as required. Qualifications: Education and Experience: • High school diploma or GED equivalent. • Previous experience in food service or a cafeteria setting is preferred but not required. Skills and Abilities: • Basic knowledge of food preparation and sanitation. • Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately. • Strong customer service skills. • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. • Good communication and interpersonal skills. • Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds. Certifications: • Food handler's certification (or willingness to obtain upon hiring).
