QUALIFICATIONS: - Calf / Heifer experience- Supervising experience- Leadership / motivational skills- Record keeping experience- Equipment operation / maintenance experience- Herd health- Feed / nutrition knowledge- Pasture management experience- Ability to speak Dairy Spanish JOB DESCRIPTION: Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is representing a large dairy operation located in California who are seeking a Calf / Heifer Replacement Manager. General duties for this position include reporting to work on time each day and begin the day's activities, communicating with Herdsman, Maternity Barn, and Calf Barn team as needed, adhering to policies, procedures, rules, regulations, laws, etc. set forth by team leaders and owner, reporting KPIs weekly and monthly per management needs – total calves on milk, dead calves, fresh cows.Responsible for making safety a priority including following all safety policies, protocols and practices, reporting safety concerns, potential hazards and any safety violations to your supervisor immediately, driving and operating all equipment according to established operational and safety procedures, and performing safety meetings as required by management.Will oversee equipment operation, including performing assigned operations and ensuring they are completed safely, accurately, consistently, efficiently, and according to policy, maintaining the orderly appearance of the equipment, facilities, and other areas where you work, maintaining equipment in a manner that limits breakdowns, safety issues, and violations - notify team lead IMMEDIATELY of breakdowns and or malfunctions, and inspecting equipment for mechanical and safety issues, and informing mechanic and notify shop lead IMMEDIATELY of potential breakdowns and or malfunctions.Responsible for ensuring proper supplies are available, including vaccines and equipment for Maternity, Calf Barn, and Transition Barn, monitoring and recording Passive Transfer Total Protein Serum weekly and working with all calf areas and team accordingly.Also, responsible for animal schedules including managing and monitoring vaccine schedule and performance, managing and monitoring dehorning, managing and monitoring pinkeye, Monitor, identify, and treat any sick or injured calf/heifer in appropriate areas, manage vaccine and medicine inventory for Calf Barn and Maternity barn.Will assist with pasture management, including setting polywire fencing for heifer groups, observing the feed amount needed for the next feeding, setting accordingly, checking fences and water troughs in heifer groups, fixing as you can, and working with the Pasture Ranch crew.Additional duties include assisting other team members as needed (including but not limited to): moving animals, pasture maintenance, general repairs, etc. and recognizing that animal welfare is critical to the success of the Farm and associated members and ensuring that animal health is a priority.
