Scout HR is excited to partner with a leading Tier 1 automotive supplier to find a driven Calibration Engineer ready to engage in a range of disciplines focused on vehicle calibration and engine control systems. This opportunity is perfect for motivated professionals looking to broaden their expertise and become a dynamic engineering asset.

Position Highlights:

📍 Location: Plymouth, MI (local candidates preferred, some travel required)

💼 Salary: $80,000-$115,000 per year, dependent upon experience

🏢 Work Arrangement: Primarily onsite, with flexibility as needed

What You'll Do:

  • Lead, plan, and deliver engine calibration development and testing.
  • Conduct chassis/engine emission testing and analyze test results in detail.
  • Optimize calibrations to achieve targets for tailpipe emissions, fuel efficiency, and drivability.
  • Prepare technical reports, papers, and presentations.
  • Collaborate with customers, suppliers, and internal teams effectively.
  • Maintain a specialist working knowledge of new technologies relevant to the role.
  • Mentor junior engineers and assist in their professional development.
  • Follow safety rules and regulations, ensuring a safe working environment for all.
  • Maintain awareness of the Company Quality System and adhere to its requirements.

What We're Looking For:

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years in powertrain calibration development.
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Strong understanding of internal combustion engines and testing techniques.
  • Proficiency in engine calibration and use of calibration tools.
  • Experience with tailpipe emissions testing and optimization to meet standards.
  • Knowledge of Engine Management Systems (EMS) and current powertrain control architectures.
  • Familiarity with OBD testing, calibration, and related legislative requirements.
  • Script writing for data reduction and analysis and working knowledge of Matlab/Simulink.
  • Soft Skills:
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and effective under pressure.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to work well in teams or individually.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to travel to customer sites for both short and long durations.
  • Preferred: Experience with Ford processes and facilities.
