Calibration Lab ManagerLocation: Greater Philadelphia Compensation: $100k-$120k + benefits Our pharmaceutical client is seeking a Calibration Lab Manager to oversee the daily operations of their ISO 9001 and ISO 17025 accredited calibration laboratory. The successful candidate will ensure that all calibration activities comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements, including Good Documentation Practices (GDP), Quality Management Systems (QMS), and Calibration and Certification Management Systems (CCMS). The Calibration Manager will lead a team of technicians, manage lab resources, maintain equipment calibration accuracy, and support our continuous accreditation and compliance initiatives. Operations Management:
  • Oversee daily operations of the ISO 9001 & ISO 17025 accredited calibration laboratory, ensuring high industry standards and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure all calibration activities align with QMS, GDP, and CCMS systems.
  • Develop and implement calibration procedures to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance.
  • Maintain and manage laboratory equipment to ensure operational efficiency and compliance with ISO standards.
  • Manage resource allocation, scheduling, and workflow to optimize lab operations.
Leadership & Team Management:
  • Supervise, mentor, and train a team of calibration technicians and support staff.
  • Set performance goals and manage workloads to ensure compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 17025, QMS, GDP, and CCMS standards.
  • Provide feedback and support to ensure the team meets productivity and quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot complex calibration issues and ensure timely resolutions to minimize downtime.
Compliance & Accreditation:
  • Ensure the laboratory complies with ISO 9001, ISO 17025, QMS, GDP, and CCMS standards.
  • Conduct internal audits to assess lab performance and adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Implement corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives to maintain ISO 17025 accreditation.
  • Prepare and deliver fully compliant calibration reports and certificates, including all necessary documentation.
Technical & Client Support:
  • Oversee the calibration of various instruments, including electrical, dimensional, temperature, pressure, flow equipment, and relative humidity instruments.
  • Provide technical support and advice to clients on calibration needs and best practices.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external clients, addressing questions and concerns regarding calibration services, capabilities, and compliance.
Safety & Lab Environment:
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Manage the handling and disposal of hazardous materials in accordance with lab safety standards and guidelines.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Metrology, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in calibration, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Strong knowledge of calibration principles, ISO 17025, GDP, QMS, and CCMS.
  • Proficiency in calibration management software, CCMS, and other related tools.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, problem-solve, and manage cross-functional teams effectively.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in maintaining ISO 17025 accreditation.
  • Familiarity with industry regulations and safety standards.
  • Advanced knowledge of calibration techniques across multiple types of equipment.
