Job Description:
Tests, and repairs electrical, mechanical, electromechanical, and electronic measuring, recording, and indicating instruments and equipment for conformance to established standards, and assists in formulating calibration standards by performing the following duties.Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
  • Operates hydraulic load testing machines, automated testing machines, and dead weight calibrations.
  • Plans sequence of testing and calibration procedures for instruments and equipment.
  • Sets up standard and special purpose laboratory equipment to test, evaluate, and calibrate other instruments and test equipment.
  • Measures parts for conformity with specifications.
  • Aligns, repairs, replaces, and balances component parts and circuitry, using soldering under a microscope. Reassembles and calibrates instruments and equipment.
  • Devises formulas to solve problems in measurements and calibrations.
  • Assists engineers in formulating test, calibration, repair, and evaluation plans and procedures to maintain precision accuracy of measuring, recording, and indicating instruments and equipment.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
Other Significant Role Requirements:
  • Good communication skills are required as this position will be called upon to interface with customers.
  • Organizational skills must be sufficient to handle administrative tasks as necessary
  • Knowledge of accelerometers, force transducers and laboratory process documentation must be sufficient to maintain the highest quality standards while coping with rapid growth and expansion of services.
  • A familiarity with or demonstrated capability to learn standard laboratory organization and test measurement techniques.
  • A familiarity with, or demonstrated ability to learn, PC operations and basic technical problem solving.
  • Must have impartiality to customer, process and product calibration related activities
Physical Demands: Must be able to lift and carry material weighing up to 25 pounds frequently through the day and material weighing up to 50 pounds occasionally. Work involves a great deal of standing and stooping, working in and about large load frame assemblies. The use of a variety of hand tool including (but not limited to) allen wrenches, torque wrenches and socket wrenches, as well as some data entry/keyboard work is required.   • High school diploma required
  • Six months related experience and/or training.
