Responsibilities

Established in 1986, Anchor Hospital specializes in the treatment of behavioral health and addictive disease disorders for teens, adults and seniors. Our mental health facility in Atlanta, Georgia is located on a secluded, 55-acre campus, less than three miles from Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport and is accredited by the Joint Commission.

The Call Center Specialist assists and facilitates the day-to-day operation of Assessment and Referral Dept. To facilitate the orderly admission of patients to Anchor, balancing the patient's comfort and ease with the organizations operating needs and financial goals. Participate in General Hospital and Department / Job Orientation, including competencies for this position, attending all mandatory in-services. The Call Center Specialist completes Verification of insurance benefits, enters potential patient's demographic, insurance, preliminary diagnosis, emergency contacts, and other related information into the hospital database system. Process faxed and telephonic referrals, screen clinical information for admission and exclusionary criteria, staff cases with psychiatrists, medical internist, and/or administration. Document all pertinent clinical information on the Intake Call Sheet. Initiate calls to key referral sources. Enter all calls and faxed referrals in the hospital database system with appropriate coding for deflections and refer appropriate patients to Behavioral Health Connections of Atlanta and sister facilities. Execute exceptional customer service skills with referral sources and potential patients or families. Coordinate pending admissions with other hospital departments. Update and manage bed availability. Assist in direct patient care and departmental operations. Other responsibilities include, but not limited to, being able to perform all aspects of the hospital's assessment and referral process, including efficient and effective management of crisis calls and other telephone inquiries. Performs other duties as may be assigned by the ARS Director or CEO.

Qualifications

Education:

Minimum Bachelor Degree

Experience:

At least two (2) years' related experience, in the hospital setting preferred.

License/Certification:

BLS, Verbal De-Escalation and Handle with Care certifications. Associate licensure (LAPC, LMSW, LAMFT) or Full licensure (LPC, LCSW, LMFT) preferred.

Skills:

* Must have good verbal and written communication skills in order to communicate in a clean and concise manner with employees, patients and the public, physicians and administrative personnel. Must have good analytical ability.

* Must have knowledge of relevant federal, state and local registration and working knowledge of 1013 process.

* Must be able to maintain an extremely high degree of confidentiality with all information.

* Must have computer skills such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, ARS programs (DSM-5/ICD10) and other computer programs.

* Must have stable emotional makeup required to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions, being able to stay focused and task oriented.

Physical Requirements:

Moderate to low physical demands. Requires extensive time sitting, writing and talking on the phone. Must be able to assist in physical crisis intervention, when necessary.

Other:

Performs other duties as may be assigned by the ARS Director or CEO.
