The Department of Social Services (DSS) is comprised of the administrative units of the New York City Human Resources Administration (HRA) and the Departmentof Homeless Services (DHS). HRA is dedicated to fighting poverty and income inequality by providing New Yorkers in need with essential benefits such as Food Assistance and Emergency Rental Assistance. DHS is committed to preventing and addressing homelessness in New York City by employing a variety of innovative strategies to help families and individuals successfully exit shelter and return to self-sufficiency as quickly as possible.

The Office of Fiscal Operations is DSS/HRA/DHS's primary payments and accounting office, and the core responsibilities are carried out through the operations of the Bureau of Accounts Payable, Revenue and Reimbursement, and Disbursement & Grant Accounting.

The Finance Office/The Office of Fiscal Operations/Bureau of Accounting and Special Programs (BOASP) is requesting approval to fill one (1) Accountant II vacancy to function as a CAMA Analyst, who will:

  • Review invoices for yearly and final closeouts.
  • Prepare and review financial reports for accuracy and adherence to specified audit guidelines.
  • Prepare monthly reconciliations for any of the Agency's various bank accounts, identify discrepancies, and provide timely resolutions.
  • Ensure special grant codes are expensed against the correct budget structure.
  • Create Cash Confirmation reports in collaboration with the Office of Budget Administration (OBA).
  • Perform other related assignments when necessary.
  • Hours/Schedule: 9 to 5Work Location: 4 World Trade Center, New York, NY

    Minimum Qualifications

    1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university, accredited by regional, national, professional or specialized agencies recognized as accrediting bodies by the U.S. Secretary of Education and by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), including or supplemented by 24 semester credits in accounting, including one course each in advanced accounting and auditing; or 2. A valid New York State Certified Public Accountant license. To be eligible for placement in Assignment Level II individuals must have, in addition to meeting the minimum requirements, at least one year of experience as an Accountant - Assignment Level I or at least two years of satisfactory full-time professional accounting or auditing experience.

    Residency Requirement

    New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
