Camp Inclusion Coordinator - Summer 2025Westwood Recreation DepartmentApplications are being accepted for the seasonal, non-benefit position of Camp Inclusion Coordinator at the Westwood Recreation Department Summer Camp. This individual will work under the direction of the Camp Director, Program Managers and Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS). The Inclusion Coordinator will support campers with varied cognitive, social, physical and emotional abilities.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assist Program Supervisors with behavior management of Campers ages 5 to 14.
- Show patience, positivity and understanding while working with campers of varied cognitive, social, physical and emotional abilities.
- Work with CTRS in creating inclusion plans to support camper's overall experience at camp. For example, task/goal charts and visual schedules.
- Check in and gain rapport regularly with campers who have inclusion plans.
- Preemptively communicate with group counselors about the camper's inclusion plans and overall needs.
- Assist in responding to behaviors and situations that may arise at camp, which involves on-the-spot thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Document camper behavior data in a timely manner.
- Assist with training group counselors on the inclusion plan for a specific camper.
- Communicate with parents via phone and email about their camper.
- Assist with managing general Summer Camp duties and responsibilities when available.
- Oversee and coordinate with Inclusion Specialists to facilitate inclusion plans.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's in Special Education, Education, Recreation Therapy, Social work, Psychology, or related field is preferred, or coursework toward such a degree; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Two years' related work experience; camp experience preferred.
- Certified in First Aid, CPR/AED (Westwood Recreation offers classes for a fee).
Schedule requirements: Mandatory staff trainings June 10-12, 2025, 4:00-8:00PM. ?Work commitment is Monday-Friday, June 23 - August 8, 2025 (No July 4th).Salary and Benefits: This is a seasonal, non-benefit position with a starting hourly rate of $23.00-$29.75 commensurate with experience.
