The Camp Nature Specialist is responsible for creating and implementing different nature activities for campers during their designated nature time. Position pays $19.00 - $20.00 per hour depending on experience.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assume responsibilities for a group of campers under your care to ensure a positive and safe camp experience.
- Plan and lead nature activities. The activities must be appropriate for each age group
- Ensure that the spaces used for J Camp are cleaned before leaving.
- Share activity plans with supervisor by agreed upon date in advance of each activity.
- Provide a materials list to supervisor by agreed upon date in advance of each activity.
- Assist with special event planning and implementation.
- Support the emotional and social wellbeing of the kids through positive behavior management, supportive interactions and conflict resolution.
- Communicate regularly and appropriately with the rest of the J Camp staff team, both verbally and in writing.
- Ensure campers get to where they need to go as directed by the J Camp leadership team, including playing an integral role during arrival and dismissal.
- Act as a positive ambassador of the SJCC both inside and outside of the SJCC
- Follow all emergency procedures at the SJCC.
- Perform work on weekends and evenings as needed to meet applicable deadlines or scheduling needs.
- Other duties as assigned.
RequirementsTo be successful as a Camp Nature Specialist you should have:
- A current CPR/AED and First Aid Certification for adults/infants/children through an approved certifying body. (or willing to become certified)
- Experience and/or training working with children preferred.
- Experience or knowledge of nature required
- Openness to learning
