Position Type: School Support Staff Date Posted: 9/17/2024 Location: Avon Park High Closing Date: 11/05/2024 THE SCHOOL BOARD OF HIGHLANDS COUNTY POSITION TITLE: Campus Gate Monitor ASSIGNMENT: Campus Gate Monitor MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 21 years old.
  • Valid Florida Driver's License.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to perform essential functions and tasks which may include exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or 10 pounds of force as frequently as necessary; lifting, crawling, kneeling, bending, stooping, pulling, and pushing, if required.
  • Satisfactory clearance of a criminal history records check and drug screening.
  • ADDITIONAL DESIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bilingual skills preferred
  • Knowledge of current computing technology and software applications appropriate to the position's job responsibilities
  • Experience in a law enforcement or security related field preferred
  • PRIMARY PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Implement campus security, policies, and practices as directed by school administrators
  • Determine the purpose for presence of outsiders on campus
  • Verify exiting students for authorized passes during school hours
  • Assist with pre-school student drop off and after-school pick up
  • Provide assistance for school bus traffic control and supervision as necessary
  • Responsible for securing campus gates while school is in session
  • Visually monitor campus buildings and grounds for the presence of outsiders on campus, using campus surveillance system
  • Report, to school administration, any security deficiencies or potential issues, including students that are in hallways during class time, as determined by viewed surveillance system
  • Report any discovered safety or security issues to school administrators
  • Participate in training programs offered to enhance skill and proficiency pertinent to position
  • Assist school staff in responding to emergencies as trained
  • Exhibit good judgement and initiative in emergency situations
  • Ensure adherence to good safety procedures
  • Provide outstanding customer service and use of positive interpersonal communication skills
  • Follow federal and state laws, as well as School Board policies
