What You Will DoThe Campus Master Planning team, in the Infrastructure Planning Office at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), is seeking highly talented, motivated, and customer-oriented applicants for a Planner 3 position. The successful candidate will have a broad-based skill set that includes extensive knowledge and experience with site, facility, and infrastructure planning. The Campus Master Planning team consults with Laboratory management and staff, National Nuclear Security Administration representatives, Laboratory program personnel, business operations, engineers, environment/safety groups, security professionals and subcontractors to determine facility and infrastructure needs and translate those needs and requirements into strategic, long-range, and site-specific master plans. This position will be responsible for identifying needs, coordinating requirements, and planning for infrastructure projects, including facilities, utilities, and transportation. Additional site planning job duties may be assigned.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform strategic analyses of program needs and siting locations to help develop recommendations and plans.Communicate with stakeholders to provide feedback on proposed development plans. Address any issues or concerns and work towards resolution.Collaborate with various organizations to ensure that plans align with institutional standards and comply with applicable regulatory requirements.Develop approaches to resolve infrastructure planning conflicts.Prepare or oversee preparation of technical reports and master planning studies.Prepare and make technical presentations.What You NeedMinimum Job Requirements:Thorough knowledge of comprehensive site planning methodologies, master planning and site development.Strong project or program management skills, with experience managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines.Advanced skill in the preparation and presentation of planning documents and reports.Demonstrated skill in conducting research, investigating alternative approaches, and developing potential solutions to problems affecting site and infrastructure planning.Demonstrated ability to maintain effective working relationships with different levels of management, employees, and consultants.Demonstrated experience leading/facilitating interdisciplinary problem-solving teams.Advanced interpersonal, written and verbal skills to conceptualize and communicate major elements of infrastructure and site planning to both technical and non-technical personnel.Education/Experience: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree and 8 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. At this level, post graduate course work may be desirable.Desired Qualifications:Master's degree in planning, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Engineering, or a closely related field.Experience with facility planning for large or complex sites.Experience with DOE/NNSA or government organization.Familiarity with ArcGIS systems or applications related to site planning.Knowledge of Los Alamos National Laboratory's facilities and infrastructure.Notes to Applicants: Please submit a comprehensive resume and detailing the minimum and desired skill.
