Position Type: Support Staff/Paraprofessional Date Posted: 10/8/2024 Location: Page High School Date Available: SY 2024-2025 Closing Date: Open until filled Job Title: CAMPUS MONITOR Reports to: Building Administrator FLSA status: Non-Exempt Supervisor duties: none Classification: Classified - Hourly (9 months) Approved on: 2/8/2022 Position Summary: This position will assist in the smooth, orderly, safe, and efficient operation of the Office of Student Discipline and in the promotion of a safe and orderly school environment, as well as provide assistance to teachers and students in relation to the overall safety of the school ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Works cooperatively and maintains effective relationships with students, parents, district personnel and the general public, as is applicable to the position.
  • Supervises the school grounds and building to ensure a safe school environment.
  • Monitors school hallways during passing periods and regular class time.
  • Reports and documents violations of school discipline policies.
  • Conducts regular building security checks. Locks exterior doors according to the building security plan.
  • Assists in the supervision of the cafeteria and common areas as assigned.
  • Requests authorized passes from non-staff persons in the hallways.
  • Reports and documents acts of misbehavior by or the presence of unauthorized persons in the building or on campus grounds.
  • Supervises the In-School Suspension Room as assigned.
  • Help enforce school policies and discipline code.
  • Patrol washrooms, parking lots and school buses.
  • Greet visitors and ensure they are properly registered with the front office.
  • Assist staff with student behavior issues.
  • Other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills dealing with a diverse range of people.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and courteously with staff, students, parents and community members.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS: Education & Experience:
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • College course work and/or experience working with Jr. High and High School students (preferred, but not required)
  • Neat appearance and good physical condition to perform job essential functions
  • Ability to communicate clearly and appropriately to students, staff and visitors
  • Maturity and personal stability
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including a regard for adolescents
  • An understanding of adolescents' basic developmental needs for respect, order and structure.
