Summary
The Campus Police Officer is primarily responsible for protecting college personnel and property to provide a safe and secure campus environment as an armed police officer. This position is 4 ten-hour shifts during 3rd shift.
Essential Functions

* Patrol, inspect, and secure campus buildings and grounds as needed.
* Investigate and report incidents and unusual conditions relating to the safety of the campus community.
* Respond immediately to emergency situations and take appropriate action to protect life and property.
* Exercise sworn law enforcement duties as an armed police officer as authorized by 110 ILCS 805/3-42.1, the Illinois Police Training Act, 50 ILCS 705/, to include arrest powers and the lawful use of force.
* Inspect and assist in the testing of fire control and alarm systems.
* Maintain effective working relationships with local police, fire and emergency services agencies.
* Enforce campus traffic and parking regulations.
* Direct and control traffic and provide crowd control and security during special events and as required.
* Investigate and report complaints and traffic accidents.
* Work shifts as assigned to provide daily 24-hour service.
* Perform assigned security and safety-related duties.
* Assume responsibilities for exercising initial command and control at scenes of armed emergencies.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required to satisfactorily perform the essential duties and responsibilities.
* High school diploma or equivalent.
* At least twenty-one (21) years of age.
* Citizen of the United States.
* Valid driver's license.
* Graduate/ successful completion of a full or part-time Law Enforcement Training Standards Board Certified Law Enforcement Basic Training Course (PTI, ISP, Academy, etc.)
* Minimum requirements for hire as established under the Illinois Public Community College Act, 110 ILCS 805/3-42.1 and the Illinois Police Training Act, 50 ILCS 705.
* Successful completion of the Illinois Central College Field Training Program.
* Successful completion of a polygraph examination, a psychological evaluation (may be waived if candidate can provide proof of a previous validated psychological evaluation from a law enforcement agency), medical and physical examination.
* Applicant must be eligible to receive a waiver of Minimum Training Standards from the Illinois Law Enforcement Training Standards Board.
* Successfully complete a six-month probationary period.
Preferred Qualifications
* College degree, preferably Law Enforcement or Criminal Justice related field.
* Documented certified advanced law enforcement training.
