What you'll do
You will have the opportunity to contribute your knowledge and skills while gaining invaluable experience. You'll provide civil, municipal, land development and/or environmental engineering services. You will also:
* Experience day-to-day tasks that could include topographic surveying, construction staking and inspection of roadway, utility and site development projects using Autodesk Civil3D software to produce plans, performing design calculations, assisting with reports, and handling permitting and regulatory coordination.
* Become proficient at developing grading plans, balancing earthwork volumes, completing geometric roadway designs, designing water main distribution networks, sanitary sewer collection and stormwater management systems, and laying out parking lots and site plans.
* Work as a team and learn from fellow staff engineers, project engineers, project managers, surveyors, CAD technicians and inspectors.
* Draft reports, help with specifications, prepare permits, use spreadsheets and work with various engineering software programs.
* Work with clients to obtain data or share information.
* Become familiar with GIS mapping tools, researching legal documents such as survey plats and legal descriptions, GPS survey equipment, and interpreting local and state regulatory codes.
* Develop leadership skills that build autonomy.
What it takes
Ideally, you will have obtained your Engineering degree, if interested in full-time opportunities) or will be pursuing a degree in Engineering or get your degree within 12 months of employment, if interested in internship opportunities. Ideally, you will also:
* Be a team player, working across departments to support firm goals.
* Have a strong work ethic.
* Be open to learning while doing.
* Provide references from past employment that demonstrate you are responsible.
* Speak and write well.
* Have strong analytical and organizational skills.
