The Security Officer will report any actions that appear to violate the Tennessee Code Annotated to the Sewanee Police Department for further investigation. A Campus Security Officer must support the University's mission, respecting all person's rights and dignity. Position Appointment Details:

Position Description Typical Duties & Responsibilities:
- Serving the community by a proactive approach to possible security issues and addressing the potential situation to de-escalate before harm or danger coming to another.
- Provide effective problem-solving techniques to complete the detail assigned to you individually or through the assistance of other officers and supervisors.
- Be willing to follow directions and maintain posts until relieved.
- Complete duties and tasks oriented in a community policing atmosphere while involved in community relations and activities.
- Always designate your demeanor in a positive, respectful manner to others as duties are completed.
- Must be able to complete a typed report or written citation.
- Provide crowd control and order for Commencement ceremonies, indoor/outdoor events/ concerts, athletic competitions, traffic direction, and varied activities associated with a university campus.
- Issue university citations, and assist the Sewanee Police Department Officers with on-site incidents that occur in your presence.
- Assist those in need of assistance by utilizing the dispatch system for appropriate resources (i.e. medical situation, locked out of the dormitory, etc.
- May have to appear in court as a witness.
