Job Summary
The Oberlin Campus Tour Guide serves as an ambassador to prospective students, families, and visitors. The primary responsibility of each Tour Guide is to encourage interest in Oberlin College and Conservatory while accurately informing prospective students and their parents about the programs, opportunities, and experiences unique to Oberlin. Each Tour Guide is directly responsible to the Campus Visit Team within Oberlin's Office of Admissions.
Responsibilities
All Tour Guides are required to lead between 1-4 campus tours per week, serve on student panels, and may be asked to support the admissions office in other capacities during program events. Tours Guides must complete the full training process and attend all mandatory monthly staff meetings.
Qualifications
Candidates must be current Oberlin College of Arts & Sciences or Double Degree students between their 2nd and 6th semesters at Oberlin as of the Spring 2025 Semester (or between 2nd and 8th semesters for Double Degree students) and must possess the following: a broad knowledge of Oberlin College; effective public speaking skills; professional conduct; ability to walk backwards; ability to think on one's feet, multitask, and be flexible; an understanding of best practices for providing customer service and hospitality.
Desired Qualifications: Experience/involvement with a variety of Oberlin programs (both academic and extra-curricular) and the Oberlin College community; prior experience with the Office of Admissions (Ambassador, etc).
Conduct Check Consent
Tour guide applicants must give consent for the Admissions Office to request an Oberlin College Conduct Check in order to be hired as an Admissions Tour Guide. Conduct checks are confidential.

Special Instructions to Applicants
Applications are now being accepted for new Tour Guides able to start working in the Spring 2025 Semester. Please note that we are currently only hiring Tour Guides for the Spring 2025 Semester who will be living in Oberlin and enrolled in classes.
Completed applications are due no later than November 30, 2024 but students are encouraged to submit their Tour Guide application as soon as possible for full consideration. Interviews will be offered on a rolling basis and until all positions are filled.
