Summary of Position:This individual will be the subject matter expert of ACoS CoC accreditation standards. Responsible for the coordination and facilitation of Saratoga Hospital's ACoS CoC accreditation. Develops standardized toolkits to monitor adherence to specific program standards to ensure maintenance of Saratoga Hospital's ACoS CoC accreditation. Develops standardized scorecard and communication process to share with organizational leaders and Cancer Control Committee members on the status of the accreditation. Works in collaboration with oncology stakeholders to evaluate the program's success, issues and risks. Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Provides support and consultation as the ACoS CoC subject matter expert to all stakeholders. Maintains a standardized scorecard and communication process to share with organizational leaders and Cancer Control Committee members on the status of the ACoS CoC accreditation. Works in collaboration with oncology stakeholders to evaluate the program's success, issues and risks.
- Works with CoC accreditation team to coordinate and facilitate the Cancer Control Committee and Cancer Control Subcommittee meetings. Ensures that the Cancer Control Committee composition, meeting schedule, agenda, and attendance meets the ACoS CoC standards. Leads the ACoS CoC survey, completes the Pre-Review Questionnaire (PRQ) and any follow-up required after the onsite ACoS CoC Survey.
- Works closely and collaboratively with clinical and non-clinical personnel and leadership to implement improvement strategies to assure continual accreditation readiness. Communicates effectively with all levels of leadership, physicians, clinicians and ancillary department staff to achieve identified goals and objectives.
- Acts as a resource for the optimal planning and implementation of programs and procedures for Saratoga Hospital's cancer services in alliance with the organizations ACoS CoC accreditation and Community Needs Assessment. Provides medical staff and hospital leadership with special reports from the cancer data system to aid in the improvement of cancer care and survival.
- Designs and promotes processes to optimize workflow related to programs' accreditation activities and assist with any changes required for the implementation of accreditation guidelines. Attends state or national educational activities as approved by the Director. Participates and completes required continuing education.
Minimum Qualifications:Associate Degree in Cancer Information Management; Health Information Technology, (RHIA or RHIT); or an Associate Degree in an allied Health-related field with completion of an NCRA-accredited certificate program. The individual must be a Certified Tumor Registrar with a minimum of three years' experience, from an institution that has completed the American College of Surgeons (ACoS) Commission on Cancer (COC) accreditation according to the Cancer Program Standards established by the CoC. Supervisory experience preferred.CTR Credential issued by National Cancer Registrars Association (NCRA) required.Additional Responsibilities:
- Must exhibit excellent communication skills - able to deal tactfully and effectively with medical staff, department representatives, fellow employees and representatives of outside interest groups. Active participation in community outreach functions relative to the job.
- Submits and reconciles data to the NCDB/RCRS per ACoS protocols, monthly /annually.
- Identifies and presents cancer data trends to leadership to facilitate awareness, interventions and strategic planning.
Salary Range: $28.88 - $47.41Pay Grade: 31Compensation may vary based on, but not limited to: overall experience and qualifications, shift, and location.
