Purpose within the Organization: The purpose of this position is to assist the Food Services department by acting as a cashier for the Canyon Activity Center. This position will also help to develop and maintain excellent customer service and communication skills, as well as establish a safe and positive work environment.
Responsibilities Related to Purpose: - Provides attentive and responsive customer service.
- May arrange merchandise to make attractive displays.
- Records all sales, collects money, operates a cash register and follows all cash handling procedures as required.
- Maintains required stock of products and may participate in ordering, inventory, and stocking activities.
- Always be a team player, and help out others where help is needed.
- Complete daily tasks in a timely manner and other assigned duties as assigned.
- Communicate all and any discrepancy if any.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area at all times.
Qualifications: - Must be able to work weekday afternoons, evenings, and weekends.
- Must have a Maricopa County Food Handler's Card and Non-slip Shoes.
- Prior Customer Service and/or Food Service experience a plus.
- Must be able to handle the stress of meeting changing deadlines in a fast paced environment.
- Superior telephone skills.
- Ability to quickly grasp and utilize new concepts and technology.
- Outstanding ability to manage time and handle multiple tasks and priorities.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as a in a team environment.
- Exceptional ability to organize information and pay attention to detail.
Education: Grand Canyon University is committed to a student first policy. Therefore, all applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements to be considered for student employment:
- Enrolled at GCU as a full-time student in a Bachelor's program or Master's program.
- Retain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master level student.
- Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University.
