Capacity Building to End Homelessness - CFI/FlintThe Capacity Building to End Homelessness AmeriCorps VISTA Program is seeking an AmeriCorps VISTA member to join Communities First, Inc. in Flint, Michigan. The mission of Communities First, Inc. (CFI) is to build healthy, vibrant communities through economic development, affordable housing, and innovative programming. The organization develops housing for low to moderate income families and supports them with supplemental programs focused on economic mobility. CFI is seeking a VISTA member to help: build broader community awareness of homelessness and community housing needs, communicate the organization's work and that of partners focused on anti-poverty and ending homelessness in order to increase awareness and engagement, Support the work of Communities First, Inc. as a member of the Flint/Genesee County Continuum of Care, and increase the number of volunteers for the organization for programs that assist low to moderate income families. Service benefits include: a living allowance of $22,800, health benefits, childcare benefits (eligibility based), an option of a $7,395 education award or $1,800 cash stipend, non-competitive eligibility for 12 months following service, and $400/month housing stipend (paid directly to a landlord/mortgage provider).
