This position will collaborate and coordinate with other Engineers, Technicians, Construction Manages, Project Managers and Inspectors on the planning, design, and construction support of capital improvement projects for the City's Public Works division.This position is identified as essential personnel and may be required to work during natural disasters and emergency situations. Essential Functions Manages the development of Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) construction project plans. Monitors project budgets, scope, schedule and workload of team members during design and construction.Schedules and conducts periodic and final inspections to monitor status of assigned projects and ensure compliance with contract specifications.Works with contractors to resolve contractual issues/concerns, as necessary.Works closely with stakeholders, including public and private agencies, utilities, business and property owners, engineering consultants, and internal City stakeholders/team members to ensure an efficient and successful projects.Prepares required documentation such as presentations and reports.Performs project administration functions and maintains complete project files.Maintains current knowledge of regulatory standards and policies related to facilities maintenance and construction including local building codes, OSHA requirements, EPA requirements, etc.Performs other duties, as assigned.Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in architecture, engineering or related field. Five (5) or more years experience as professional designer or construction project manager and in contract administration or construction supervision.Must possess knowledge of modern principles, theory, practices, and methods of engineering/architectural design, construction practices, scheduling, project estimation techniques, and related building and site development principles.An equivalent combination of training and experience (as approved by the department) may be used to meet the minimum qualifications of the position. Possession of a valid appropriate Driver's License issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia.
