South Puget Sound Community College (SPSCC) seeks a creative, dynamic, and collaborative individual to fill the position of Capital Projects Manager in the Facilities department. The Capital Projects Manager reports directly to the Director of Facilities and is responsible for managing all aspects of the college's capital program.
This position is an 18-month non-permanent contract.
This position supports the College's mission to support student success in post-secondary academia transfer and workforce education that meets the needs of the South Sound region. This is seen by supporting efforts to implement, administer, and coordinate instruction with students, staff and the public in regards to the Transition Studies programs content, policies, procedures, and activities.

What You'll Do
Responsibilities and duties of the Capital Projects Manager include, but are not limited to, the following:
* Direct and manage all phases of construction project development and implementation; participate in selecting architects and consultants; coordinate projects from pre-design through construction and closeout.
* Work with and represent the college in working with architects and consulting firms to develop project designs, specifications, and programming requirements.
* Responsible for fiscal accountability and project account management, including cost estimates, budgets, and certifying payments.
* Responsible for project records management and maintenance, project status reports, budget status, & project planning statements.
* Serve as liaison with the Department of Enterprise Services (DES), consultants, contractors, and college staff during construction projects and planning.
* Monitor and oversee construction project standards and schedules; ensure compliance with campus design and construction standards.
* Coordinate project activities to minimize impact on departments and programs.
* Provide professional guidance and input for campus master planning.
* Work with the Director of Facilities to coordinate and prepare the capital requests and other required reports, surveys, etc., to DES, OFM, SBCTC, and the state legislature.
* Maintain permanent building records and electronic drawings for all campus buildings.
Minimum Qualifications
* A Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Construction or Business Management, Engineering or related field or an equivalent mix of education and experience that demonstrates the candidate meets the competency requirements for the position.
* Three years of experience in project and/or construction management or equivalent.
* Experience working with project and/or construction management computer software applications.
* Experience reading and interpreting plans and specifications.
* Ability to travel to off-site locations for meetings and appointments.
Preferred Qualifications
* A Master's degree in Architecture, Construction or Business Management, Engineering, or related field.
* Certification in Construction Specifications or other industry-related areas.
* Five years' experience in project and/or construction management.
* Experience with State capital allocation and funding processes.
* Experience with Computer-Aided Drafting & Design and/or Building Information Modeling.
* Experience in Higher Education environments.
* Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with various constituencies in diverse settings.
* Commitment to a working environment that values a diverse academic environment, including students, faculty, and staff of diverse cultural, socioeconomic, and educational backgrounds.
* Ability to work effectively and efficiently in high-stress environments with conflicting priorities.
