About The Role

Carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) is critical to meeting the climate goals of companies and countries alike. DNV has a strong track record in CCUS built on key research, the development of related Recommended Practices, and delivering advisory work worldwide. It is anticipated that CCUS deployment will grow significantly in the coming years.

DNV Energy Systems seeks a CO2 Storage Principal Consultant to join the CCUS Venture team. The CCUS Venture is a Global Team responsible for growing DNV's CCUS business through providing specialist expertise, strategic growth initiatives including those focused on subsurface storage.

This position is based in North America preferably in our Katy, TX office.

What You'll Do

  • Lead teams of subsurface experts for the delivery of certification and technical assurance of CO2 storage sites
  • Verification of Measurement, Monitoring and Verification (MMV) plans, technology selection and methodologies
  • Advisory support for industry, investors, and government agencies
  • Lead subsurface risk assessments
  • Develop and lead subsurface CO2 related Joint Industry Projects
  • Client-facing position, including project management responsibilities
  • Support business development activities including identifying areas for growth within CO2 storage, proposal development (including budgeting and resourcing) and support for development of new products and services for the CCUS market
  • Coach less experienced team members

About You

What Is Required

  • Masters or PhD in relevant geoscience discipline
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in CCUS
  • A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in oil & gas or a related field (subsurface team lead experience preferred)
  • Deep knowledge of CO2 storage project development, including evaluation of risks, subsurface characterization workflows, and modelling and monitoring requirements
  • Knowledge of the CCUS value chain, active projects, and key players in the market
  • Knowledge of CCUS policies and regulations is preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
  • Up to 10% travel on an annual basis
  • Ability to work independently and flexibility to support projects in different time zones
