Summary
The Cardiac Rehabilitation RN is accountable and responsible for providing comprehensive cardiac rehabilitative services to patients referred to the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program and Primary/Secondary Cardiac Disease Prevention Programs.
- Performs daily QC per department protocols and policy.
- Applies telemetry monitor per protocol and interpret appropriate rhythm.
- Develop exercise programs to improve participant strength, flexibility, endurance, or circulatory functioning in accordance with exercise standards, regulatory requirements and credentialing requirements.
- Completes/updates Individual treatment plan per CMS guidelines and makes adjustments to plan of care as per physician.
- Demonstrate correct use of exercise equipment and/or performance of exercise routines.
- Explain exercise program or physiological testing procedures to participants.
- Interpret exercise program participant data to evaluate progress or identify needed program changes.
- Calculate MET level and THR for each participant and advance as appropriate.
- Demonstrate knowledge of basic ECG and rhythms and be able to interpret, and adjust, exercise session accordingly.
- Demonstrate ability to monitor BP, HR, ECG Rhythm and understand appropriate response to exercise.
- Responsible for the care and safety of patients in cardiac rehabilitation.
- Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
- Provide clinical oversight of exercise for participants at all risk levels.
- Educates cardiac rehabilitation participants, or community groups regarding exercise or fitness topics.
- Maintains accurate QC logs, service records, etc.
- Completes all work before clocking out and leaving.
- Understands and practices proper use of all equipment.
- Provide emergency or other appropriate medical care to participants with symptoms or signs of physical distress.
- Interacts professionally with patient, family, co-workers and physicians.
- Documents appropriately in telemetry monitor system and is able to troubleshoot problems, concerns that arise.
- Communicates to physician/provider any patient concerns and issues and adjusts plan of care appropriately.
Requirements:
- Graduate of Accredited Registered Nurse Program, current Nebraska Registered Nursed licensure
- Cardiac Rehab Experience preferred but not required
- Current BLS certification required.
- ACLS certification required within 6 months of hire.
- 1-2 years clinical experience required, with 1-2 years of experience working with cardiac patients on coronary care or telemetry unit preferred.
