The Career Coach will provide one-on-one career coaching to help students prepare for and be successful in their internships, co-ops, and careers. The Career Coach will also work closely with CDS and other staff members and faculty to fully integrate a career management strategy for AAMU students. Examples of Duties Essential Duties and Responsibilities:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential job functions satisfactorily.
- Lead one-on-one and group career counseling sessions (in-person and virtually) that help students make informed career decisions
- Contribute to and build relationships with faculty, staff, and other key stakeholders to develop and implement programming that complements faculty instruction and students' learning.
- Support, create, or coordinate events that increase awareness of CDS programs, resources, and services.
- Develop, deliver, or contribute to career development workshops that include networking strategies, interview skill development, resume and cover letter writing skills, portfolio development, and career search platform usage
- Support students by coordinating and/or attending job shadow experiences, employer site visits, and participation in career-related events.
- Assist with collecting and tracking data for assessment and improvement purposes; utilize data to help create goals and objectives to meet the needs of the student population.
- Assist with and/or coordinate logistical and administrative details for CDS events, including, but not limited to, career fairs, professional development workshops, and on-campus interview schedules.
- Post job listings and create bi-weekly newsletters on Handshake.
- Provide job search assistance to students seeking employment on- and off-campus and make connections as appropriate.
- Instruct sections of credit-bearing career courses on topics that range from basic career development and life design to industry-focused job and internship search strategies and internship-for-credit, as needed.
Typical Qualifications Minimum Position Requirements (including years of experience, certifications, licenses, etc.):
- Bachelor's degree in Counseling, Human Development, or a related field. A Master's degree in a related field is a plus.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High degree of professionalism
- Demonstrated time management and priority-setting skills, and a high commitment to quality and accuracy
- Flexibility with the ability to pivot and work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Preferred
- Familiar with the Handshake platform
- Program development skills, and knowledge of career development services in higher education

- Strong technical proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

- Strong organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and projects and work independently.
- Ability to work evening and weekend events, and travel with students, as necessary.
