Salary: $40,000.00 AnnuallyLocation : Glenville, WVJob Type: Non-classifiedJob Number: 0485P00088xDivision: Science & Mathematics DepartmentOpening Date: 10/24/2024Description Fairmont State, Glenville State, and several regional partners are building a regional collaborative to improve the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) workforce pipeline in North Central West Virginia. This initiative will be funded in part through an Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) POWER Grant, with the goal of building an industry-education network and facilitating projects to increase job awareness and preparedness among students and jobseekers. Job Type: Full-time, PermanentShift Schedule: Monday-Friday; Weekends and evenings as needed.Travel: This position will require some travel. Examples of Duties Thisindividual'smainrolewillbetoworkonaregionalcareerservicesapproachaspartofthe core executive team for the ARC POWER Implementation grant and support workforce and economic development at Glenville State University. This individual will assist Academic Counselors in duties pertaining to STEM students' success and retention as outlined below or asdirectedbytheDirectorofAcademicSuccessCenter.Thekeyrolesandresponsibilitiesare outlined in greater detail below.
  • Work to connect faculty and students with experiential learning opportunities such as class projects, internships, co-ops and practicums.
  • Coordinate and host events such as mock-interviews, resume building workshops, professional headshot events, etc.
  • Build strong relationships with academic units to understand academic offerings, research expertise, applied learning opportunities and other aspects of the institution so thatopportunitiescanbeidentifiedtohelptheregion'sindustryfilltheirworkforceneeds.
  • Lead coordinator for the annual career fair and actively recruit more STEM representatives for this event.
  • Monitor academic progress of STEM students and intervene with resources when necessary.
  • Coordinate with the Industry Partnership Manager to maintain a strong connection with WV state and business leaders.
Typical Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum of two (2) years experience in higher education.
  • Experience with first-generation, rural, and/or underrepresented college students.
  • Experience with STEM/STEM students.
  • Experience with databases.
  • Experience outreaching to and building connections with entities such as higher education institutions, industry, and the K-12 sector.
