The cover letter should address your specific interest in the position and outline skills and experience that directly relate to this position.Job SummaryThe Flint School of Management is looking for a Career Planning Manager who will report to the SOM Director of Student Support Services to maintain and further develop the School's internship program and career development support for its students. The Career Planning Manager aids with the student internship application process and career development. Serve as a liaison between employers, students, and internship faculty advisors. Represents SOM in a variety of activities on-campus including university resource fairs, resume workshops, campus engagements, and other committees. Also helps represent SOM externally at professional networking events and with professional associations (e.g., AICPA, SHRM, AMA). This position serves as a direct contact for employers and alumni to engage with SOM students.Responsibilities*CAREER COUNSELING AND DEVELOPMENT FOR STUDENTSEncourage employers to recruit campus graduates. Be a liaison between employers and students to help them find internship opportunities as part of the Career Development Requirement (CDR), and assist in finding employment.Promote student career development and counsel students individually and as a group concerning employment opportunities and careers. Visit classes, and organize events to promote awareness about the CDR.Create and conduct workshop programs to inform students of procedures and provide assistance in resume preparation, interviewing techniques and other career development activities using relevant software and other tools which may include AI. Organize specific workshops that are part of the CDR.Manage the design and development of publications related to career planning for students.Coordinate the career development requirement.Network with employers to recruit on-campus.Assist with on-campus activities and events.Coordinate the business internship program.Collaborate with University Associate Director Office of Student Career Advancement and Success to secure internships and permanent jobs for SOM students.RELATIONSHIPS WITH ALUMNI IN SUPPORT OF PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMSCreate a one-to-one mentoring program between alumni and students.Work with the SOM Director of Student Support Services to create and deliver professional development programs for alumni.EXTERNAL AND UNIVERSITY ENGAGEMENTDevelop relationships with firms for internships and co-op positions; manage relationships with these firms once internships and co-op positions have been established, and mentor interns and co-op students.Serve on Campus Committees.Support Student Organizations by facilitating and coordinating events, tours, and workshops.ANALYTICAL WORKDevelop a comprehensive database of students and alumni career outcomes in collaboration with Alumni Relations, Information Technology and Institutional Analysis including use of data from LinkedIn, Target X, and other sources.Train student career counselor intern in tracking the student CDR activities.Required Qualifications*Bachelor's degree in a related fieldThree years or more experience in working in career development, talent development, or related fieldDemonstrated project management skillsDemonstrated proficiency in relevant software and o:::
