We are seeking our next Career Navigator - AEL who will be all-in on our mission and who will identify and successfully matriculate eligible Adult Education students (pursuing HSE or ESL) into Amarillo College using the Ability to Benefit federal aid program. The Career Navigator will act as a liaison between Amarillo College, community partners, and Workforce Solutions, providing comprehensive support to students throughout their educational journey. This role is crucial in bridging the gap between adult education and college enrollment, supporting students in achieving their academic and career goals. This is a Grant Funded position. Continued employment is contingent on grant funding. QualificationsEDUCATION: Required: Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Education, or related field. Preferred:
- Master's Degree.
- Career Development Facilitator (CDF) certification.
EXPERIENCE: Required: Two (2) years or more of experience in career counseling, teaching, or academic advising; and experience working with adult learners. Preferred:
- Advising experience.
- Experience working with educational technologies such as Zoom, Google Suite, Remind and Microsoft Office.
- Familiarity with TWC AEL grant programs and Ability to Benefit federal aid requirements
- Experience with case management and student support services
- Experience in partnership building and community outreach
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop recruitment and marketing materials for integrated career pathway programs.
- Coordinate and implement outreach and recruitment strategies for integrated career pathway programs.
- Strengthen connections with Adult Education and Workforce programs in the community.
- Expand the network of campus and community providers.
- Expand the network of employers and business organizations in targeted career pathway sectors.
- Coordinate and/or provide supportive services to support academic persistence and success.
- Develop individualized education and career plans for students.
- Identify potential sources of financial aid and in-kind support to underwrite enrollment into the college.
- Provide information on targeted career and educational pathways.
- Assist students with employment search, internships or job placement, and career research and planning.
- Teach adult education transitional courses. (Minimal one class per semester)
- Monitor student progress and meet with students regarding academic progress.
- Present and/or coordinate workshops on a variety of topics to support professional development opportunities for students
- Track student attendance, behavior, and progress.
- Communicate regularly with key staff at community partner organizations and work collaboratively to develop and strengthen student support networks, referrals, and recruitment pipelines.
- Attend academic advising training, and department and division meetings.
- Maintain a system for tracking students along career and education pathways.
- Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

Salary: Amarillo College follows a lag pay strategy, with starting offers typically between the minimum and midpoint of the pay grade, rarely reaching the maximum to support long-term growth within each position. Pay grade 11 (salary is determined by Human Resources based on education, work experience and internal comparisons). Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to travel between offices and buildings, and requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull and/or maneuver office supplies as needed. Working Conditions: Must be willing to work a flexible schedule (days, nights, weekends, holidays, and varying events if necessary.) Work Environment: This position operates in a professional office environment, routinely uses standard office equipment (i.e. computers, phones, copy and fax machines, filing cabinets) and is in a high traffic area with continual interruptions. Software commonly used includes Microsoft Office, Colleague, and various other educational applications. Work may also be performed outside of the office and with little to no supervision.
