Goodwill Industries of Kentucky is looking for an energetic, self-motivated, dynamic professional Career Services Director to join our team! The Career Services Director is responsible for long-term and short-term planning and organizing of all phases of the Career Services Program, including integrating, coordinating, developing, and interpreting these services to the organization and community.This role is also responsible for significant revenue generation through the management of complex governmental contracts; direct and indirect supervision of staff; ensuring compliance related requirements and performance standards are achieved. Job Type: Full-time, Exempt Main Work Location: Somerset Other Supervised Locations: Pikeville & Corbin Essential Duties and Tasks:

  • Administers all phases of the Career Services Department including the Opportunity Center in assigned location(s), and associated Goodwill Works Programming through collaboration with colleagues and Executive Leadership.
  • Has a commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and works with Human Resources to model this example to all leaders that are in line of report. Assures a workplace free of discrimination or harassment throughout areas supervised.Takes prompt action, within agency policy, to address any such allegations or incidents.
  • Manages supervisors and employees in the department with responsibility for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the department. Interviews, hires, and trains employees; plans, assigns and directs work; appraises performance, rewards and disciplines employees; addresses complaints and resolves problems.
  • Cultivates and maintains a positive, collaborative relationship with partners, community-based organizations, educational institutions, businesses, referral and/or funding organizations and employment and training organizations to determine community needs and adapt mission delivery to meet the individual needs of the persons served. Promote and participate in professional organizations, groups, outreach programs that identify as promoting professional practice standards and services to participants served to promote Goodwill programs.
  • Develops, implements, and manages an annual budget for workforce development including direct responsibility for monitoring, reporting, and assisting in the development of grant requests and funding proposals.
  • Locates and develops markets for workforce development services, including presentation of grants and proposals and providing input and making recommendations on both a strategic and operational level.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to ensure success of the mission.
Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor's degree in related field preferred; in lieu of a degree Seven or more years (7+) of progressive related experience.
  • Five (5) or more years' supervisory or managerial experience in the field of workforce development or vocation rehabilitation related services, highly preferred.
  • Certified Rehabilitation Counselor, Certified Vocational Evaluation Specialist, Certified Rehabilitation Leader designations or similar license/certification preferred.
  • Must have knowledge of the requirements of CARF, DOL, EEOC, ADA, and other relevant federal, state, and local regulatory, accreditation and compliance requirements.
  • Must have excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to interface with all levels of staff, and present information in a dynamic way.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work, proof of insurance, a valid driver's license, and an acceptable driving record.
Physical Demands:
  • This job may have physical requirements that are considered sedentary work. Sedentary work involves sitting for long periods of time; occasional bending, squatting, kneeling, stooping; good finger dexterity and feeling; frequent repetitive motions; talking, hearing, and visual acuity and occasional lifting to 15 pounds.
  • Travel across the state and to other locations beyond the assigned work location is required.
  • Must occasionally be able to work a flexible schedule which includes evenings and weekends to accommodate programming requirements and the needs of participants.
