Career Specialist - Visual and Performing Arts (Elementary School Sites) 2024-2025 School Year JobID: 3059Position Type:Support Staff InstructionalDate Posted:5/24/2024Location:Various School SitesClosing Date:Until FilledAdditional Information: Show/HideSummary:Under the general supervision of the site principal, the Career Specialist will assist teachers in providing classroom Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) instruction to students in grades TK-6. The goal of an effective VAPA Career Specialist is to develop in each student an interest in and ability to express himself/herself creatively in the arts, and utilize skills and techniques of artistic expression appropriate to the student's interests and abilities.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:* Develop, prepare present, and coordinate classroom VAPA lessons.* Provide assistance in developing a school-wide VAPA instruction schedule.* Coordinate school-wide VAPA projects and programs.* Plan and present school VAPA displays and exhibits.* Instruct pupils in proper care and use of VAPA materials.* Organize storage areas and control the use of materials to prevent loss or abuse.* Provide input to staff regarding pupil progress in the area of VAP.* Help maintain a classroom environment favorable to learning and personal growth.* Performs other duties as required to accomplish the objectives of the position.Qualifications:* Abilities* Demonstrate competence in one or more of the major fields of VAPA* Establish a desirable VAPA model for students* Maintain a high standard of professional conduct* Maintain confidentiality of information about staff or students* Meet district standards for physical and mental health* Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of workEducation and Experience:* High School diploma or GED.* Bachelor's Degree in Art or related field* A background working with elementary students is preferred.Licenses and Certificates:* Requires a valid driver's license.Application Documents Requirements:* Resume* High School diploma or GED.* Bachelor's Degree in Art or related fieldSalary and Terms of Service:Salary range (66) $37.39 - $45.99 per hour, eight (8) steps, seven (7) hours per day and five (5) days per week (M-F).
