Responsibilities and Duties
- Provide personal care (i.e., bathing, grooming, dressing, oral care, toileting, and exercise) for patients daily and as needed.
- Perform personal care services in patients' homes and assist with tasks of daily living in accordance with an established care plan.
- Assist with promoting a compassionate physical and emotional environment for our patients.
- Change bed linen and maintain appropriate grooming supplies in patient room on a regular basis.
- Record patient vital signs, weights and measurements, intake and output, food consumption, and other information, as assigned.
- Observe patients carefully and observe changes in condition to Registered Nurse.
- Basic food preparation, shopping, housekeeping, laundry and other errands on behalf of patient.
- Be alert for proper ventilation, temperature, light and noise control.
- Routinely turn and position patients, as necessary.
- Provide adequate hydration to patients at regular intervals each day according to specific patient needs.
- Back-up care (or respite) services: providing other caregivers a break.
- Administer simple medications.
- Assist patients with mobility and physical therapy exercises.
- Provide companionship and basic emotional or psychological support.
