Position Information

Classification Title Skilled Craftsperson FLSA Non-Exempt FTE 1.00 Minimum Qualifications

Requires technical knowledge in the field acquired through an apprenticeship, formal training programs, or on-the-job training. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications Position Summary

This is manual work at the journeyman level in both rough and finished carpentry. Work involves the construction and maintenance of structural woodwork and other woodwork involving the use of standard carpenter tools and power driven woodworking machinery. Assignments are normally made orally or in the form of sketches or blueprints. Work is inspected for satisfactory compliance with instructions, although routine repairs are usually made independently without supervision or review.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

* Considerable knowledge of the standard practices, methods, materials, and tools of the carpentry trade.

* Considerable knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade.

* Ability to plan, lay out, and perform carpentry work of average difficulty.

* Ability to work from sketches and blue prints.

* Skill in the care and use of hand and bench tools and equipment of the carpentry trade.

Physical Demands

* Lift up to 75 lbs. throughout shift.

* Sit, stand, walk, climb stairs, stoop, bend, squat, work from a standard or extended ladder, and work with hands above head.

* Driving as needed to perform job duties.
