DescriptionThompson Thrift is seeking to hire a full-time Carpenter. This position will work both in Terre Haute, IN and Paris, IL. The Carpenter will use carpentry and general construction skills to build and repair various structures and equipment throughout our projects. Under general supervision, perform journey-level work in the design, construction, repair and maintenance of structures and related physical facilities; act as lead worker to other classified staff in the area; and perform related work as required.Responsibilities:Collaborates with employees concerning work orders, prints, and sketches to understand the structure that needs to be built or repaired.Estimates equipment, tool, and material requirements for each job.Builds, dismantles, and repairs structures, walls, roofs, glass, and siding as assigned. Operates all necessary tools to complete a job.Recognize and select appropriate lumber types and grades.Estimate cost, time and materials of carpentry projects.Performs special projects and completes all other duties as assigned or requested for the general support of the organization.Ensures tools and equipment are properly cleaned, stored, and maintained for optimum performance and safety.May perform painting as needed.Work may include framing, basic mechanical/electrical/plumbing troubleshooting/repairs, drywall patching/finishing, trim, finished carpentry, accessory install, window/door installation/adjustment, sealing/caulking, siding/flashing installation or repairs, roofing repairs, project inspections/documentation/reporting/troubleshooting/managing, and other tasks as needed for construction completion or repairs.Performs other related duties as assigned.Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent.Completion of formal apprenticeship program or equivalent training and experience.5+ years of experience working as a carpenter in residential, commercial, industrial, or facilities operations setting, including rough and finished carpentry.Thorough understanding of the correct and safe operation of all related tools and equipment.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Ability to draw accurate sketches to communicate the specifications for projects.Ability to take accurate measurements and calculations.Detail oriented with the ability to efficiently analyze and organize significant amounts of information regarding plan layouts, material deliveries and jobsite productivities.Carpenter shall provide own small hand tools like a tool belt, nail apron, tape measure, pencils, trim hammer, framing hammer, 10 in 1 screwdriver, utility knife, nail sets, speed square, nail pullers, trim flat bar, channel locks (small), needle nose pliers, bullet level, chisel, Allen wrenches, drywall jab saw, mini screwdrivers, small crescent wrench, and similar tools.We Offer our Team MembersCompetitive Pay + Bonus Potential Comprehensive Benefit PackageGenerous 401(k)Paid Time Off and HolidaysCareer Advancement OpportunitiesPhysical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must met by a team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The noise in the construction work environment is usually moderate to loud. The team member is required to work in compliance with company safety policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
