Job Summary:
The Carpenter position is based at the Leonard Valdosta, GA plant with operations in the U.S. and has overall responsibility for constructing, assembling, and installing various components of shed buildings and truck accessories with precision and quality craftsmanship for Leonard. This position reports directly to the [Insert Position] and has [Insert Number] direct reports.
Job Responsibilities:
* Interprets blueprints, sketches, or specifications to determine project requirements and materials needed for construction.
* Measures, cuts, and shapes wood, plastic, fiberglass, or other materials using hand and power tools, such as saws, drills, and routers, to fabricate components for shed buildings and truck accessories.
* Assembles and install framing, siding, roofing, doors, windows, and trim according to design plans and industry standards, ensuring accuracy, alignment, and structural integrity.
* Inspects materials for defects, damage, or irregularities before use, and select appropriate materials for each project to ensure high-quality finished products.
* Monitors construction progress and perform quality checks throughout the assembly and installation process, making adjustments or corrections as needed to meet specifications and safety requirements.
* Adheres to safety protocols and procedures for carpentry work, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), safe handling of tools and equipment, and compliance with OSHA regulations and company policies.
* Maintains a clean and organized work area, including proper storage and disposal of materials, to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
* Works collaboratively with other carpenters, construction workers, and team members to complete projects on time and within budget, sharing knowledge, skills, and resources to support each other as needed.
* Communicates effectively with supervisors, project managers, and other stakeholders to provide progress updates, report issues or concerns, and coordinate workflow to meet project deadlines.
Requirements
Competencies (skills, knowledge, and abilities):
* Must be able to PASS a drug screen
* Strong knowledge of construction methods, building codes, and safety regulations, with the ability to interpret blueprints, sketches, or technical drawings.
* Proficiency in using hand and power tools, measuring instruments, and carpentry equipment to perform precise cuts, installations, and finish work.
* Attention to detail and craftsmanship, with a focus on producing high-quality workmanship and satisfying customer requirements and expectations.
* Physical stamina and strength to lift and carry heavy objects, bend, stoop, and stand for extended periods in various weather conditions.
Education/Experience Requirements:
* High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or apprenticeship in carpentry or related field is preferred.
* Minimum of 1+ years of experience in carpentry, construction, or related trades, with demonstrated proficiency in woodworking techniques, tool usage, and building materials.

Physical Requirements:
* Ability to lift and carry heavy materials such as lumber, roofing materials, and tools, weighing up to 50 pounds or more, repeatedly throughout the workday.
* Proficiency in using hand and power tools for carpentry tasks, including saws, drills, hammers, and screwdrivers, requiring good hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills.
* Stamina to stand for extended periods and walk or move around the job site to gather materials, perform installations, and collaborate with team members.
* Flexibility to bend, stoop, and kneel while working on lower surfaces or accessing confined spaces, as well as to reach overhead areas for overhead installations.
* Ability to climb ladders or scaffolding to access elevated work areas for roofing, siding, or other construction tasks, while maintaining balance and stability.
* Adaptability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, or snow, depending on the construction schedule and project requirements.
