#48XAdminsupportAt Journeyman level, carpenters perform tasks such as wall erection, door and frame installation and wood product fabrication including solid surface fabrication and installation. Carpenters are also responsible for drop ceiling repairs, floors, door hardware, roof leaks and emergency disaster response. The work involves reading and interpreting plans, sketches and shop drawings. Carpenters are also familiar with working in an environment that requires strict infection prevention measures. - Valid California Driver's License in good standing
- Must possess a certificate of completion from a recognized union apprenticeship program, University apprenticeship program, accredited trade school or have the equivalent amount of experience and training comparable to a journey level craftsperson in Carpentry as evaluated by department leadership.
- Experience using shop equipment, suspended ceilings, commercial construction technicians, metal/wood/structural framing.
- Experience conducting preventative maintenance.
- Experience ordering material.
- Experience scheduling work in accordance with customer requests.
- Must have skills, knowledge and ability to perform all functions of cabinetry and carpentry trades.
- Must have the administrative ability to keep accurate record accounts of labor time and material costs.
- Skills to cut, shape and assemble wood, composition and/or plastics.
Preferred Qualifications
- Must have skill and knowledge in the installation of seismic restraints/anchoring.
- Physical stamina to work in inclement weather (hot/cold), confined spaces, from ladders, scaffolds, roofs, etc.
- Must be able to see well enough to read written work instructions, technical manuals, drawings, sketches, etc.
- Must speak well enough to communicate with co-workers, peers, customers and managers.
- Ability to learn and observe the safety policies and guidelines set up by the department.
- Ability to identify self and unit when answering/using the phone; deliver messages, and/or refer phone calls to appropriate person; forward all information as required. Handle telephone information requests with courtesy, accuracy and respect for patient confidentiality.
