Job Summary:
The Carpenter Supervisor's primary duties are overseeing construction, installation, repair structures and fixtures. Acts as a resource for the physical plant department and builds effective, strong working relationships to enhance department operations and functions.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
* Builds and repairs using typical carpentry machines and tools
* Supervises Carpenter I and Carpenter II
* Ability to perform all areas of repair and maintenance of wooden or wood substitute items and structures
* Studies specifications in blueprints, sketches, or building plans to prepare project layout and determine dimensions and materials
* Organize and ensure needed supplies and equipment
* Assist in the coordination of outside contractors as requested
* Coordinates projects with plumbers, electricians, and other members of the Physical Plant
* Provide support services to the department in a manner that professionally, cordially, and efficiently assists students, faculty, staff, and visitors
* Specific assignments are based on unit need and assigned by the supervisor which could include such things as supervising, assembling, fastening, building, repairing as well other duties as appropriate

* Ability to work independently
* Ability to work with, assist, lead, and take directions from others in the interest of operating the Physical Plant to its optimal efficiency
Work Setting:

* Reports to Physical Plant Director

Education and Experience
Minimum Requirements:
* Three years carpentry experience and/or training
* Ability to understand and follow instructions
* Familiarity of construction blueprints
* Basic written, verbal, basic math skills, and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience with moving supplies
* Forklift license helpful
* Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the President of SWOSU or their designee may find appropriate
