Job DescriptionRole Summary:The Carpenter position is responsible for constructing, maintaining and repairing modular living quarters for the Stallion Accommodations line of business.Role Priorities / Responsibilities:
- Assist in the construction of new builds, as well as, service and repair existing buildings in the company's rental fleet
- Construct, erect, install and/or repair structures and crew quarter fixtures made of wood and metal
- Build frame works and install cabinets, siding, drywall and/or insulation
- Install interior wall panels over metal studs, ceiling grid and tiles, doors and adjust for proper fit
- Install flooring and interior base including the possibility of poured epoxy floor systems
- Install batten based insulation material onto stick pins
- Assist in building of cabinets with limited supervision
- Lay laminate (Formica)
- Install furnishings in the completed buildings such as, but not limited, to bunk beds, desk tops, file cabinets, lockers, office chairs, bathroom vanities, stoves, refrigerators, freezers, cold/hot tables, serving tables, etc
- Clean and prepare completed building units such as mopping and waxing floors, wiping of furnishings and walls, cleaning bathroom toilet, showers and sinks
- Properly maintains and cleans work area at end of each day
- May be required to operate a forklift or manlift
- Provides quality customer service to internal and external customers
- Creates and contributes to a safe work environment and proactively identifies and corrects potential hazards
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Has a working knowledge of commercial construction techniques and the ability to use the appropriate tools associated with the job being performed
- Has basic understanding of blue prints and the ability to layout basic wall systems using drawings provided
- Able to read and understand a measuring tape and apply measurements to 1/16 increments
- Able to layout and work with metal stud construction
- Able to cut and fit trim molding
- Has general knowledge of all building disciplines and how they integrate with one another
- Is able to successfully work with a group in close quarters during the construction process
- Is able to train less qualified co-workers within the carpentry discipline as needed
- Requires limited supervision for produce work products
- Ability to move or lift 80-pound wooden skid, pallet or bundle of material
- Ability to push/pull 100-pound objects
Education or Certification required (if applicable):
- Applicants must possess a valid Driver's License
- A motor vehicle record that meets fleet insurance requirements
