It is a Federally Qualified, Non-Profit Health Center serving communities in Suffolk, Rockland, Orange, Dutchess, Ulster, Sullivan, Columbia, and Westchester County. Sun River Health is currently seeking a part-time Certified Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) to join our busy team in Brooklyn at The Alpha School site. Sun River Health is currently seeking a full-time CASAC to join its busy team in Brooklyn, NY. They will provide alcoholism and substance abuse counseling services at our Licensed OASAS health center. The CASAC offers comprehensive assessment services to clients who may have substance abuse barriers to employment by applying clinical judgment to determine appropriate treatment needs and levels of care. This includes performing diagnostic assessment, evaluation, intervention, referral, and alcoholism and substance abuse counseling in both individual and group settings. Responsibilities consist of but are not limited to: Essential Duties and Responsibilities * Develop and conduct group and individual counseling on a scheduled basis to caseload clients. * Introduce clients to program goals, objectives, rules and regulations, clients' obligations, rights, and program operation. * Demonstrate knowledge of group work management techniques and use those techniques appropriately. * Demonstrate appropriate treatment planning and clinical intervention. * Demonstrate knowledge of appropriate documentation utilizing ECW. * Work in part of a collaborative team of licensed clinicians. * Provide education and information to the client about alcohol and drug abuse. * Maintain and update referral services and resources that may be useful to our client/resident population; make referrals when necessary and appropriate. * Prepare legal monthly reports monthly or as needed. Minimum Education Requirement: * High School Equivalency Required. Licensure/Certification/Registration: * Valid Full OASAS CASAC certification (completion of 350 hours). Minimum Work-Related Experience: * Must have 3-5 years of experience in an OASAS program. Preferred Work Experience: * Bilingual in English and Spanish (preferred) Job Type: part-time Pay: $24-28 per hour About Sun River Health Sun River Health has a rich history of providing quality, affordable health care to communities in need.
