Amergis Staffing is seeking a qualified Substance Abuse Counselor/CASAC. The CASAC will evaluate psychological, social, and physiological signs and symptoms of alcohol and drug use and abuse to determine the client's course of treatment and identify any co-occurring conditions. Additionally, this position will provide individualized and group counseling sessions, work with client family members or identified resources and monitor progress while abiding by all applicable laws and regulations.

Essential Position Responsibilities: - Meets with clients to obtain personal information and medical histories and consults with other team members to get a clear picture of the client's current status, history and potential needs.
- Work in collaboration with behavioral health and clinical team to identify and evaluate clients physical and mental behaviors and the factors/triggers that may prompt clients to seek alcohol or drugs.
- Designs a program of treatment and rehabilitation tailored to the client's individual situation based on knowledge of alcohol and drug dependency and counseling and treatment methods.
- Uses a combination of individual and group counseling sessions to help clients. •Writes treatment plans, maintains case histories and progress reports and discharge paperwork. Modifies treatment plans/programs based on observation in one-on-one and group sessions.
- Educates clients about various coping mechanisms they can use to develop healthy habits.
- Identify recovery interference situations and situations that may interfere with a client's recovery efforts (chronic pain, mental health, loss of resource)
- Assists clients with effectively responding to or avoiding identified precursors or triggers that would risk their sobriety/recovery.
- Meets with family members or identified resources to educate them on the roles they can play in the recovery process.
- Maintains records in accordance with standards established by the Department of Health, Child and Family Treatment and Support Services, and OCFS.
- Educates and connects clients with community-based organizations and resources for continued success after discharge from care.
Minimum Requirements: - Bachelor's degree with concentration in psychology, sociology, public health, or related field of study and At least 2 (two) years of experience working with drug or alcohol abusers.
- Training in alcohol and drug abuse counseling. CASAC certification preferred of (350 hours of education and training, as well as 6,000 hours of supervised work experience in the field of addiction treatment)
- Evidence of commitment, sensitivity, and flexibility in working with patients/family
- Other qualifications as deemed necessary by the Executive Director.
