Portions of the duties associated with this position may be conducted remotely as allowed by the county telecommuting policy and authorized by the Department Head. The employee must have the ability to work efficiently remotely if required. Examples of Duties 7. Examples of Duties
  • Understands and correctly applies state statutes, administrative rule and policy to duties assigned
  • Provides investigation services related to child abuse/neglect and child welfare referrals
  • Provides case management services for court-ordered and voluntary cases related to child protection, child welfare and juvenile justice
  • Provides assessment, service coordination, and case management services for children, individuals, and families
  • Is certified to and provides the Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths (CANS) assessment to children as required
  • Determines the range of services needed by individuals and families through interviews, home visits, collateral contacts, etc.
  • Attends court hearings and provides written reports and testimony
  • Monitors compliance with court orders
  • Performs Foster Care & Kinship coordination and training duties including but not limited to, licensing foster homes, scheduling regular training and meetings for foster parents, providing input and support to, matching child placements to the appropriate foster home, and assisting in dispute resolutions involving kinship and foster families
  • Understands a variety of state programs including Juvenile Court Intake, Juvenile Justice and Delinquency, Foster Care, Kinship, Subsidized Guardianships, and Independent Living
  • Assists with case consultation with co-workers
  • Coordinates services with other agencies/disciplines/community members such as law enforcement, schools, attorneys, mental health, and alcohol and other drug professionals, etc.
  • Provides evening and weekend on-call services including assessment, crisis intervention, custody decisions and referrals
  • Completes case-related documents including correspondence, case decisions, and general documentation
  • Arranges evaluation services to assist with family assessment decisions
  • Prepares families for court hearings by explaining the process and by sharing recommendations
  • Participates in section and department meetings, work-related committees, and trainings
  • Provides informational presentations to other staff, professionals, and community groups related to department programs and policies
  • Researches, identifies and provides cost effective and evidence-based programs for Children and Families case plans
  • Participates in supervision/consultation
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in social work, sociology, psychology, and criminal justice or other approved human services program
  • Minimum of one year experience providing case management and/or service coordination to children, individuals, and/or families
  • Competent in or ability to quickly learn computer data systems necessary to perform duties
  • Valid Wisconsin driver's license and reliable transportation

  • Shifts and Work Hours:Generally, the courthouse is open from 8:00am until 4:00pm, Monday through Friday. Depending upon the position, full-time employees may be scheduled either 37.5 or 40 hours per week.Shifts for Dispatch personnel will vary, but cover 24-hours per day, 365 days per year. Applicants for these positions must be flexible. .Insurance:Health insurance is available to regular employees that work 26 hours per week or more and those that are eligible for participation in the Wisconsin Retirement System. Coverage is effective upon completion of one full calendar month of employment.Both Disability and Life Insurance are available.A Section 125 Plan (Flexible Spending) is available.Sick Leave:Sick time is accumulated at the rate of eight (8) days per year for full-time employees and is pro-rated based on hours worked for employees working 50% time or more.
