Job Summary

Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Institutional Equity in the Office of Institutional Equity (OIE), the Case Manager/Investigator is responsible for administrative, logical, and technical support for the intake and management of all reports related to discrimination, harassment, and sexual misconduct. The Case Manager/Investigator will serve as the first point of contact for reporters/complainants of discrimination, harassment, and sexual misconduct by performing outreach of services and responding to any requests for interim measures with approval of the Title IX Coordinator. The Case Manager/Investigator will perform related tasks under the umbrella of civil rights compliance (e.g. Title IX, VAWA, and Clery), including record keeping, training, and outreach to the University community; intake; implementation of supportive measures and accommodations; and conducting investigations, as well as other duties as assigned. This is a 100% on-site position in West Lafayette, Indiana.

Duties and Responsibilities

* The Case Manager/Investigator is responsible for intake of reports and complaints regarding potential violations of the University's Title IX Harassment Policy, Anti-Harassment Policy, Equal Access and Affirmative Action Policy, and Nondiscrimination Policy Statement; providing timely status reports to the parties and community partners of matters reports to OIE; acknowledging complaints and providing the initial response to complainants; conducting other preliminary fact-finding as required to assess the allegations under applicable University policies and procedures; scheduling and performing interviews of parties and witnesses; preparing documentation of interviews, investigation reports, and/or other documentation of OIE's response to a complaint; providing referrals and resources to individuals affected by sexual misconduct and other forms of discrimination; and submitting recommendations to the Title IX Coordinator for approval.

* The Case Manager/Investigator will be responsible for implementing supportive measures and interim safety and welfare measures as needed for Title IX and sexual misconduct matters. In connection with this work, the Case Manager/Investigator will meet with individuals involved in Title IX and sexual misconduct matters and work with faculty, staff, and community partners to implement accommodations and interim measures.

* Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

What We're Looking For:

* Bachelor's Degtree

* Two or more years of experience with sexual misconduct cases (including, but not limited to, sexual assault or sexual harassment matters), employment law, conducting investigations, providing accommodations, human resources, social sciences, social work, and/or related experience

* Consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of required education and related work experience

* Demonstrated knowledge of Federal and State equal opportunity and non-discrimination laws/regulations (including Title IX, Title VII, Title VI, ADA, and SEction 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and other applicable laws/regulations).

* Knowledge of complexities surrounding sexual misconduct, including but not limited to, sexual assault and sexual harassment cases in a University or college setting

* Strong oral and written communication skills with ability to build rapport quickly

* Effective verbal communication skills, including the ability to speak in front of groups and interact effectively in a university setting

* Excellent customer service skills, interpersonal relationship skills, and professionalism in building and managing relationships with external business partners, students, faculty, and staff

* Strong problem solving, analytical, organizational, and time management skills with emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail

* Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, ongoing cases, and complex caseload

* Demonstrated ability to identify and determine problems, analyze information, and implement solutions

* Motivated individual with ability to efficiently multi-task, work under pressure, handle frequent interruptions, and meet deadlines

* Capable of taking initiative, assuming responsibility, and handling confidential information with discretion

* Sound judgment and abiity to remain impartial in all interactions with parties, witnesses, and the university community

* Ability to work independently and contribute to a team environment

* The successful candidate must demonstrate the highest level of integrity and professionalism, possess superior writing and communication skills, recognize the critical nature of and consistently display close attention to detail, exercise good judgment, and have the ability to work in a collegial and respectful manner with co-workers and various campus stakeholders

* Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.

* Valid US or Canadian driver's license

This is a 100% on-site position in West Lafayette, Indiana.
