Job DescriptionUnder general supervision, responsible for working within a multidisciplinary team providing clinical care to community child, adolescent, and adult outpatients with serious mental illness, substance use disorder, and other co-morbid conditions. This is a grant funded position sponsored by the Texas Child Mental Health Care Consortium (TCMHCC). TCMHCC was created by the 86th Texas Legislature to leverage the expertise and capacity of the health-related institutions of higher education to address urgent mental health challenges and improve the mental health care system in this state in relation to children and adolescents. TCHATT (Texas Child Health Access Through Telemedicine), is one initiative of the TCMHCC and is designed to partner with school districts to provide mental and behavioral health care access to all students in the state of Texas.Responsibilities•Evaluates and assess the patient's behavior, emotional responses, interpersonal relationships, and social conditions. •Gives diagnostic impressions and treats adults, adolescents, and families. •Develops individual treatment plans for patients and document case records as needed. •Maintains regular contact with each assigned patient to monitor responses to services and identify problem areas. •Assists with developing and implementing evidence-based treatment models. •Responsibilities may include crisis interventions as needed. •Performs all other duties as assigned.Qualifications
  • Ability to analyze, compare and evaluate aspects of the treatment program.
  • Ability to communicate in a courteous, pleasant and professional manner.
  • Ability to work one-on-one with patients every day, working with people in close situations, be a good communicator and listener.
  • Ability to talk with patients and their families and be able and willing to deliver both good and bad news in the most compassionate way possible.
  • Ability to write case management notes according to standard, memos, letters, various complex reports and other documents with acceptable spelling and grammar.
EDUCATION:
  • Bachelors' degree in social work, counseling, or psychology is required.
EXPERIENCE:
  • One (1) year of experience in a health care setting is required.
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION:
  • LMSW licensure is preferred.
