Job DescriptionJob Summary: Posting Specialist at Good Samaritan Hospital CBO is responsible for receiving and processing of all payments-either being received by mail, in person, or electronically online on a daily basis. These payments would include both insurance and self-pay payments. The posting specialist is responsible for posting all payments and adjustments accurately and making the decision on next responsible party action. Daily reports of batches are to be completed and provided to the Patient Accounts Supervisor for review. The Specialist may be responsible for their own cash drawer and balancing of it on a daily basis. This position supports the overall financial health of Good Samaritan Hospital by ensuring payments and adjustments are applied in a timely manner. Essential Job Duties:
  • Receives and processes Insurance Payment batches for Good Samaritan Hospital by properly and timely making the correct payment, contractual adjustments, posting of denial reason code transactions, and marking the account for the next responsible party.
  • Receives payments from patient's or guarantors in person, at our Drive Thru, or Lobby Window and provides the patient with a great customer service experience.
  • Prepares individual bank deposits accurately and on a daily basis.
  • Balances each payment batch to the total that is provided on ticket tape or what was electronically deposited. This also includes providing all Explanation of Benefit documents and reports of all batches completed to the Patient Accounts Supervisor on a daily basis.
  • Investigates the source of unidentified payments to ensure they are applied to appropriate accounts.
  • Makes necessary copies of Explanation of Benefit to be provided to other agencies we are affiliated with in order to transfer payments accurately from and to different bank accounts at Good Samaritan Hospital
  • Responsible for completing the online bank account spreadsheet daily when completing payment batches that were Electronic Funds Transfers to make sure that all payments are getting posted. This is reconciled with the accounting department on a daily basis.
  • Balances cash drawer with computer system on a daily basis. Also maintains accurate amount of $100.00 on a daily basis in their drawer.
  • Analyzes Explanation of Benefit information, including co-pays, deductibles, co-insurance, contractual adjustments, denials, and more to verify accuracy of patient balances when an item has been posted incorrectly.
  • Communicates and keeps Supervisor and/or Manager aware of any posting issues that need to be resolved. Has good and open communication with Supervisor and Manager. Treats them with dignity and respect.
  • Works well as a Team Member; pitches in when a large task needs to be completed (end of month goal), communicates well with other team members when having a posting issue. Ask others for help when needed.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Patient Account Manager or Patient Account Supervisor.
  • QualificationsJob Specifications:
    • Education: High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of training and experience. Associate's degree would be preferred in health administration, business administration, finance.
