GENERAL DESCRIPTION The purpose of this position is to perform cashier duties and customer services functions, requiring good judgment based on knowledge gained through work experience. Work is carried out under the general supervision of the Utility Billing Manager and is reviewed through conferences, reports and evaluation of results obtained. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS The following essential functions represent the primary duties of this position but should not be considered an all-inclusive list of responsibilities. - Completes rapid and accurate completion of transactions, processes utility payments, calculates change, and issues receipts.
- Answer phones, help customers, process customers' change of address requests, perform validation of account and other customer requests utilizing the City's billing software program.
- Receive and process applications for new services or discontinued services.
- Process set meter reports.
- Maintain an orderly file system.
- Assist customers using the City's Automated Meter Reading (AMR) program for meter readings.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Knowledge of City service area.
- Ability to have good judgment based on knowledge gained through experience.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.
- Knowledge of computer input; ability to count monies of all denominations.
- Ability to learn and follow City and Departmental policies and procedures; receive and understand written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective and amiable relationships with leadership, supervisors, residents, customers, employees, other departments, and agencies.
- Ability to drive city vehicles as needed to perform duties.
- Must possess excellent math skills.
- Ability to operate a computer, telephone, cash drawer, validator, credit card machine, calculator, typewriter, facsimile machine, copier machine, portable radio, electric letter opener, check endorser and other office equipment related to the functions required by the Utility Billing Division.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High school graduate or equivalent certification.
- Two (2) years of cashiering and/or customer service experience.
- Must have good phone skills with emphasis on customer relation skills; ability to work well with the public and research and follow up various requests.
- Valid Florida Driver's license. A valid out of state License is acceptable, but selected candidates must obtain and provide a valid Florida driver's license within thirty (30) days of start date.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered, provided that the education and experience are in a relevant and related field. JOB LOCATION City Hall Annex. Occasional travel to other City locations and other municipalities may be required. ADDITIONAL JOB INFORMATION
- Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, occasional standing, walking, bending/twisting, pushing/pulling up to 10 lbs., lifting up to 10 lbs.
- Environmental Conditions: Exposure to dim or bright lights.
- Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
